An ideal place for a stroll
The park of the Castle Hill is a very popular promenade for the people of Nice, who come here to find the calm and space so rare in the city. Children can walk around safely (the area is closed to cars) and have fun in the playground.
The finest panoramas of Nice
You will enjoy impressive panoramas over the various neighbourhoods of Nice as well as its harbour throughout your walk. And even if they are not « the most beautiful panoramas in the world » as the signs along the path claim, they are really worth the detour and give you a good idea of the relief and extent of the city.

The Bellanda Tower
When you access the Castle Hill from the seafront via the Bellanda Tower staircase, you arrive halfway up at a plateau topped by a superb dome, offering you a magnificent view of Nice and the Promenade des Anglais.
The cascade
Do not miss the unmissable castle cascade, which can be seen day and night from the Cours Saleya.
The cemeteries of the Castle
Although visiting cemeteries is not really part of our favourite moments, the fact is that those of the Castle of Nice are superb. You will find a multitude of tombs ranging from the magnificent to the most ordinary, in every style: Roman, neo-Gothic, Ligurian, etc., making it one of the most beautiful cemeteries in France.
Many local personalities are buried here.
How to get there
Two options to reach the Castle Hill.
From the seafront
At the end of Quai des États-Unis, the extension of the Promenade des Anglais towards the port of Nice, and before the bend of Quai Ruba Capeu, lies the first entrance, which can only be reached on foot.
You then have to choose between the lift or the staircase running alongside the Bellanda Tower. Be careful, the climb is quite steep.
From the port of Nice
Not recommended if you are on foot. Take the castle ascent and follow the long path to the end to reach the cemeteries.

- From 1 April to 31 May: 8 am to 7 pm
- From 1 June to 31 August: 8 am to 8 pm
- From 1 to 30 September: 8 am to 7 pm
- From 1 October to 31 March: 8 am to 6 pm
