Castle Hill Park Nice: Panoramic Views & Waterfall

Castle Hill
Castle Hill Park is a large green area with panoramic views over Nice, ideal for a break from the busy center.
An ideal place for a stroll
The castle hill park is a popular place for walks among the people of Nice, who come here in search of peace and quiet and open space, which is so rare in the city. Children can walk around safely (cars are not allowed) and have fun in the playground.
The most beautiful views of Nice
You can enjoy impressive panoramic views of the different districts of Nice and its marina throughout your walk. And even if they are not "the most beautiful panoramic views in the world" as the signs along the path indicate, they are definitely worth a detour and give you a good idea of the relief and extent of the city.
Must-see
The Bellanda Tower
When you climb the hill to the castle from the seafront via the Bellanda Tower staircase, halfway up you will come to a plateau topped by a magnificent dome, offering a magnificent view of Nice and the Promenade des Anglais.
The waterfall
Don't miss the unmissable castle waterfall, which can be seen day and night from the Cours Saleya.
The castle cemeteries
Although visiting cemeteries is not really one of our favourite pastimes, it must be said that those at Nice Castle are superb. You will find a multitude of tombs ranging from the magnificent to the more commonplace, in a variety of styles: Roman, Neo-Gothic, Ligurian, etc., making it one of the most beautiful cemeteries in France.
Many local personalities are buried there.
How to get there
There are two ways to get to the castle hill.
From the seafront
At the end of Quai des Etats-Unis, the extension of the Promenade des Anglais towards the port of Nice, and before the bend in Quai Ruba Capeu, is the first entrance, which can only be accessed on foot.
You can choose between the lift or the stairs alongside the Bellanda Tower. Be warned, the climb is quite steep.
From the port of Nice
Not recommended if you are on foot. Take the castle path and follow the long road to the end to reach the cemeteries.
