The best three-day programme
Keep the mornings focused and leave room for a long lunch or a beach stop. Use one day for the centre, one for the port and one for Cimiez.
Day 1: the historic centre
Walk along the Promenade des Anglais, Place Masséna, the Paillon gardens and Old Nice. Finish at Castle Hill.
Day 2: the port and the bay
Explore Garibaldi and the port, then walk towards Mont Boron or choose a museum near the seafront.
Day 3: Cimiez and Matisse
Take public transport to Cimiez and combine the Matisse Museum, the Roman remains, the monastery and its gardens, checking opening times first.
