Nice's private beaches: which to choose, how much it costs

There is the public beach, where you lay your towel on the pebbles. And there is the private beach: lounger in the shade of a parasol, shower, restaurant and service. In Nice, 14 private beaches share the Promenade. Here's how it works, what it costs in 2026 — and how not to get it wrong.

Nice's 14 private beaches

The City of Nice officially lists 14 "under-concession" private beaches along the Promenade des Anglais: Régence, Les Canailles, Cocoon Beach, La Véla, Hôtel Amour, N la Plage (Negresco), Blue Beach, Le Temps d'un Été, Bocca Mar, Ruhl, Le Galet, Beau Rivage, Opéra and Castel — plus two water sports bases.

Each beach has its own personality: Ruhl and Beau Rivage for the central location, Castel for its festive atmosphere, N la Plage for prestige, Bocca Mar for modern service.

What does it cost in 2026?

There is no single price: each beach sets its own rates depending on the row (first row facing the sea is priciest) and the season. Verified references in 2026:

• the usual range is €20-40 per day for a lounger with parasol;
• N la Plage (Negresco) is the priciest: €55 for lounger + parasol in the second row, €70 in the first row, and €200 for a double sunbed with parasol;
• a parasol alone is often rented for €10-15 on top of the lounger.

A half-day (arriving after 2 pm) is sometimes offered at a reduced rate — ask on arrival.

What's included

The lounger rate gives access to the equipped beach and, depending on the establishment: showers, changing rooms, wifi, supervised beach and drink service. The restaurant is generally open to everyone, lounger customer or not. Private beaches remain on pebbles, like the whole coast — water shoes aren't overkill to reach the water.

How to book

Booking is done online on each beach's website (some, like Bocca Mar, have their own system) or directly on site in the morning. In July-August, the central beaches sell out by 10:30 am: book the day before or arrive early. In June and September, you'll easily find space without booking.

Which beach to choose?

• Central location, first visit: Ruhl or Beau Rivage, facing Old Nice and Place Masséna;
• Festive atmosphere: Castel, between the Negresco and the port;
• Prestige and calm: N la Plage, in the spirit of the Negresco;
• Controlled budget: the western beaches (Le Galet, Régence) are often more affordable;
• Truly free: the public beaches, with municipal showers.
