Saleya Market
The Cours Saleya is the beating heart of Old Nice: one of France's finest flower markets in the morning, lively terraces in the evening and an antiques market every Monday. Here are the 2026 opening times and local tips.

The Cours Saleya is Nice's most famous market, between the sea and Old Nice. Flowers, fruit and vegetables, seafood, flea market and summer evening markets: here are the official opening hours, updated for 2026.

The flower market

The flower market has occupied the Cours Saleya since 1861 and is classified as a "Marché d'Exception". In 2026, its official hours are:

  • Tuesday to Saturday: 6:00 am to 5:30 pm (stall cleared by 6:00 pm);
  • Sunday: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm (stall cleared by 3:00 pm);
  • Closed on Monday (flea market day).

The food market

Fruit, vegetables, cheeses and seafood take place every day except Monday, from 6:00 am to 1:30 pm. In the morning, between 8 and 10 am, is the best time: the market is lively but the crowds are still manageable.

The Monday flea market

Every Monday, the big Cours Saleya flea market gathers about 180 antiques dealers and second-hand sellers, from 7 am to 6 pm, on the Cours Saleya, Place Pierre Gautier, Place Charles Félix, Place du Palais de Justice and the arcades of the Cours Jacques Chirac. An extension takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month on Place Garibaldi.

Note: the flea market is closed on certain public holiday Mondays and eves (14 February, 30 April-1 May, 31 October-1 November, 24-25 December).

The summer evening market

From mid-May to mid-September, Tuesday to Sunday, 6:00 pm to 12:30 am, the evening market brings the Cours Saleya to life with arts and crafts: paintings, sculptures, jewellery and decoration. A lovely way to stroll in the cool evening air after a day on the Promenade des Anglais.

Getting there and tips

The Cours Saleya is reached on foot from Place Masséna or Castle Hill, and by tram (Masséna or Garibaldi stop). Stalls are crowded: choose a backpack rather than a pram on busy days.
