Exotic Garden of Èze: tickets, access and visiting from Nice

At the top of Èze village, on the site of the old fortress, the Exotic Garden spreads out 429 metres above the sea. Cacti, agaves and sculptures line cliff-edge paths with the Riviera below. Here are the opening hours, 2026 prices, tickets and how to get up there from Nice.

The garden

The garden occupies the site of a medieval fortress whose ruins still crown the headland. It reads in two parts:

• The southern part: several dozen species of succulents and xerophytes from every continent — columnar cacti, prickly pears, agaves;
• The northern part, opened in 2014: Mediterranean and shade-loving plants, with caves and a waterfall;
• The sculptures by Jean-Philippe Richard scattered along the route, plus identification plaques with QR codes.

The site holds the Jardin remarquable label and a regional flowering award. It is also a viewing platform: the panorama runs from the Ligurian Sea to the hinterland. The tourist office gives an average visit time of 60 minutes; allow 90 minutes if you want to cover everything and stop often.

Opening hours 2026

Open every day, with seasonal hours:

• January, February, March, November, December: 9 am to 4.30 pm;
• April, May, June, October: 9 am to 6.30 pm;
• July, August, September: 9 am to 7.30 pm.

Tickets and prices 2026

• Adult: €10;
• Teenagers aged 12 to 17 and students (student card): €6;
• Groups (12 people minimum, with a guide): €6 per person;
• Children under 12: free; also free for Èze residents and visitors with disabilities, with proof, at the garden ticket office;
• Guided tour: €15, booking required.

The garden is included in the French Riviera Pass: check first whether the pass already pays for itself with your other visits (our calculation). Buy online from the official box office — worth doing, because there is almost no mobile signal at the top of the village: print your ticket or save a screenshot before you climb. Booking platforms (GetYourGuide, Tiqets, local agencies) also sell entry and combined Èze – Monaco tours: make sure you are buying a dated garden ticket.

Getting there from Nice

• Bus 82: from Nice-Vauban to the “Èze Village” stop, roughly 30 minutes, then a few minutes uphill on foot to the garden. The simplest option without a car;
• Bus 602 (Zou!): the regional Nice – Monaco line also stops at Èze Village, handy if you are continuing to Monaco;
• Train then bus 83: TER to Èze-sur-Mer station, then line 83 up to the village — an alternative to climbing by the Nietzsche path;
• By car: the Moyenne Corniche (N7 / D6007) towards Èze-Village. Paid parking at place Figuiera, at the foot of the village; coach parking at place François Demay. In season the car parks fill up — the bus is often quicker.

The climb and how demanding it is

Be honest with yourself: this is not a flat garden.

• Reaching the garden means walking up through the village, a mix of slopes and steps;
• Inside, the ground is very steep and the levels are linked by numerous staircases: the route is not wheelchair accessible;
• Tips: closed shoes, some water, and avoid the hottest part of the day. With a pushchair or very young children, the visit becomes hard work;
• Crowds: a limit of 300 visitors at a time applies in busy periods. Book a time slot online and aim for opening time or the end of the day.
