The beaches

Baie des Fourmis

A pebble beach sheltered from the wind, below the casino gardens, with views of the Villa Kérylos and the small port. Free access; lifeguarded from June to August; dogs not allowed.

Petite Afrique

On the way out of Beaulieu towards Monaco, this beach of about 400 m is lined with parasol pines that provide shade. It has a children's play area, showers, toilets, a first-aid station in season and beach huts. Sources differ on the surface (pebbles for some, fine sand for others). Parking can be difficult in the height of summer: arrive early or come by train.

Picnicking in Beaulieu

Neither beach is presented as an official picnic area: you set up on the beach, as for a swimming day. To eat without carrying anything, Petite Afrique has its beach huts. In summer, these beaches fill up quickly: prefer the morning or late afternoon, and take your rubbish with you.

The Petite Afrique trail

A 4.7 km route from place Georges Clemenceau, with about 219 m of elevation gain. It crosses a Belle Époque neighbourhood and lush vegetation (holm oaks, pine forest), uses steps such as the Montée des Mandarines, and ends near the port quays. Open year-round depending on the weather; dogs allowed; GPX track available from the Office. Bring proper shoes.
