# Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB: a great trail weekend in late September
From 24 to 27 September 2026, Nice hosts the French Riviera leg of the UTMB World Series circuit: five trail races starting and finishing in the city, from the accessible 20K up to the 100M for finishers.
For visitors, the Ultra-Trail Village is free and open to all: a great opportunity to soak up the atmosphere, watch the finishes and discover the city from a different angle.

# Autumn exhibitions: Matisse × YSL and the exceptional Chagall loan
Two major exhibitions close at the end of September:
- "Le beau, la mode et le bonheur" at the Musée Matisse, until 28 September 2026: Matisse meeting Yves Saint Laurent.
- "Chagall à l'œuvre" at the Musée national Marc Chagall, until 21 September 2026: the exceptional loan of the 141 works from the Meyer donation.

The Nice Carnival 2027 will run from 9 to 28 February 2027, with the theme "Vive l'Amour".

# Nice Carnival 2013: Key Dates
As every year, the city of Nice will host its unmissable carnival, one of the largest in the world! The programme includes parades, music and celebrations, all on the famous Promenade des Anglais facing the sea.

# Rallye d'Antibes 2010
For lovers of motorsport and the superb landscapes of the Nice hinterland, the 2010 edition of the Antibes rally (the 45th) was once again an excellent opportunity to enjoy the many activities taking place in the region.
In the final standings, victory went to Luca Betti at the wheel of his Peugeot 207 S2000, followed by Michal Solowow and his (superb!) Ford Fiesta S2000.
Polish driver Robert Kubica was at the wheel of a Renault Clio 2 Super 1600 and took an excellent third place. Not bad at all for a Renault F1 Team driver!

# 25th France-Africa Summit 2010 in Nice
On Monday 31 May 2010, the 25th France-Africa summit opens in Nice, the first under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy. The focus will be on the role that the economy and businesses play, or should play, in a country's development.
Very many heads of state are expected.
Organisation and security have been pushed to the maximum. From Friday evening, part of the Promenade des Anglais and most of the city centre streets were closed for a full-scale rehearsal.
From this morning, surveillance and television aircraft and helicopters have been crisscrossing the Nice airspace.

# Storm in Nice: 6-Meter Waves Hit the Promenade
The sea ran wild along the coasts of the French Riviera towns this Tuesday, striking the sea walls of Nice and Cannes with great force, with waves 6 to 8 metres high.
This phenomenon had not been seen since the mid-20th century. Many videos are circulating online, bearing witness to the violence of the event. Click here to watch one.
The Promenade des Anglais, temporarily closed, reopened to traffic on Wednesday.
The swell mainly affected beach operators, for whom the damage could reach more than 100,000 euros.
No need to panic for tourists, this kind of event is extremely rare.

Since 6 February 2008, the Ligne d'Azur bus and tram ticket has cost €1. The city aims to ease the budget of low-income households and encourage the use of public transport, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

# Southern Alps Ski Resorts Open
A date locals wait for every year: Saturday, December 8 marked the opening of ski resorts near Nice (about one hour by car). Isola 2000 had a snow cover ranging from 15 to 50 cm.
