Nice Public Transport: Bus, Tram & Tickets
Public transport in Nice and nearby areas is efficient and affordable, making it one of the best ways to move around the city.
Getting around Nice by bus
Nice's bus network is very developed and allows you to reach anywhere in the city and its surroundings. You'll never be far from a bus stop. Only fringe areas are less well served.
All buses are air-conditioned. In most cases, a dedicated lane is reserved for them on streets, allowing them to avoid heavy traffic.
Noctambus night buses allow travel until 2:30 AM for the last line.
The Ligne d'Azur bus company has a comprehensive website full of useful information. You can plan your journey, check schedules, and any potential line disruptions. Visit http://www.lignedazur.com/.
You can purchase tickets directly from the driver (have change ready). Several options are available:
- Single ticket: €1 (instead of €1.30 since February 6, 2008)
- One-day pass: €4. Very good value as it includes the airport line, whose single ticket alone costs... €4.
- Non-nominative Multi+ ticket. Can be shared among several people. Valid for 17 trips excluding airport: €20
- 7-day nominative pass: €15 only at official sales points*. Allows unlimited travel for 7 days.
*Most tobacco shops sell these subscriptions, also available at the bus station.
Getting around Nice by tram
Nice's tramway only serves the city's tourist center. It became available from late 2007.
The tramway uses the same tickets as the bus line and allows connections.
